Would you be interested in organizing a 3 v. 3 tourney some weekend?

Low-Definition: Where's The Puck?!
The Red Sox played their 17th game of the season last night, beating the Yankees 7-5. OK, so that's enough about the Sox.
Moving right along to things that really matter right now, let's talk about the Bruins convincing 5-1 victory against the Canadiens last night. The win forced a game 6 back at the Garden on Saturday night.
The Bs exploded for 4 goals in the 3rd period yesterday, none of which I was actually able to see because, thanks to a fantastic programming decision by NESN, the B's were featured on CN8 (NESN Plus) in low-definition.
Why the Red Sox received preferential treatment on a day the Bruins faced elimination I will never know?! I have said it once and I will say it again, no sport benefits more from a beautiful crystal clear high-definition picture than hockey does. No other sport, period.
I will tell you this, if tomorrow's Bs game is not in high-def I am going to flip my shit. Seriously, I will do something crazy, like throw my fist through a window or eat a salad. Yeah, I mean business.
The Bruins are playing phenomenal hockey, and I have talked to plenty of non-traditional hockey fans who have been glued to the TV for the Bs opening round series against the Canadiens. Guess what? They're hooked!
I will tell you another thing though, these guys won't stay hooked for long if they keep tuning into games in which they can't even find the freaking puck!
I am done ranting, for now. NESN, you better own up and do the right thing.
The future of my lettuce-free diet depends on it.

Truer words have never been spoken. Personally, I put most of the blame on the Sox' Pink Hat fans...you know who I'm talking about. They've been "diehard" fans since Game 6 of the '04 ALCS, are card-cararying members of Red Sox Nation, own multiple Ellsbury shirts/jerseys and actually prefer the new Cask'NFlagon to the one of its glory days not so long ago. The Bruins aren't on their radar and they're just now starting to realize that this KG person is apparently good at something...and while they have no idea who Gino is, they must buy his shirt, too.
ReplyDeleteMe, I'm more the type to accept that there's still about 150 games to go and would much prefer seeing a Game 5 of any round in HD over a meaningless April Sox game.
Damn you, pink hats. Damn you.
Thank you AJ. I could not agree more! These same pink hat fans are the reason I can only manage to bring my kids to 1 or 2 Sox games a year.
ReplyDeleteJust wait, next season when the Bruins' young gunners are another year older and fresh off a BIG playoff run, the pink hat fans will begin showing up at Bs games with pink Milan Lucic jerseys.
Milan Lucic is too man for any woman to handle.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and aunt are going to the Sox tonight because they love baseball so much.......I can hear it now, GO BRADY! I'm sorry but if you don't already own your own gear to wear to the game, you should not be able to go.
ReplyDeleteBarry Melrose needs to also stop talking so much about how Price is having a bad game and how the B's are working him. Well maybe 2 of those goals were gifts. Who drops the puck with men in the zone like that? Amateur hour haha
