Would you be interested in organizing a 3 v. 3 tourney some weekend?

President Bush Makes Historic Call

Quick update on Pat Riley's status: according to The Onion, Riley has been courting David Stern in a potential bid to parlay the Miami Heat into the playoffs. I question the authenticity of this picture, mainly because Riley sports a much better tan these days than this picture suggests. I'll let you be the judge.

In more important news, I want to share with you an important piece of baseball history that took place last night that many people may have overlooked. In the grand opening of Nationals Park, Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves hit a historic home run against the Washington Nationals when he blasted a solo shot in the top of the 4th inning. The home run marked the first ever long ball in Nationals Park, and the historic blast was called by none other than el presidente himself, President George W. Bush. Love him or hate him. I thought that was pretty cool.

In other news, my wife is home and I can't begin to tell you how much I miss Man Town. Can you believe she makes me watch sports on low-def TV, just so she can watch Big Brother After Dark?! Outrageous, I know.

The saga continues.

Man Town, Sports and Steak Tips

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support and kind wishes over the past week. I understand a lot of you were concerned about my well being and my sudden disappearance from cyberspace.

The truth of the matter is, I have no real excuse for my absence, other than the fact that my wife went to Texas for the week. With the queen bee away from her hive, I officially opened up "Man Town" for business this week. Sports and steak tips every night. Every night, I kid you not. It was awesome.

A lot has happened since my last post. The Red Sox started there season with a two-game split in Tokyo. Then they postponed there season to play three exhibition games in Cali before finally resuming yes-this-game-actually-counts-and-so-do-the-rest (even the All-Star game) baseball. Wow, you may need the Rosetta Stone to decipher what the hell I just said.

The Celtics have been taking care of business. In fact, they beat up the Miami Heat so bad today I wouldn't be surprised if Pat Riley abandoned ship. He already left the sidelines, and the next logical step is a not-so-quiet departure from the organization. He can probably cite actor/model (former NBA superstar) Dwayne Wade's lack of focus for his departure (see Wade's picture with Kanye West above).

Speaking of the Celtics, my boy Kendrick Perkins has a new blog, "I'm Kendrick Perkins - What Of It?" Check it out. The guy is a freak, in more ways than one. KP truly speaks to the fans. I mean it's as if he was a 5'6" average Joe (or Brian) caught in a 7 footers body. The guy is an avid sports fan and he is pretty hysterical. Seriously, check it out.

A brief fun fact about the NCAA tourney: This is the FIRST YEAR EVER that all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. Another fun fact: I have consistently picked all four #1 seeds to advance to the final four for nearly a decade now, to which I have always been frowned upon for. But guess what? I failed to do a bracket this year! Go ahead and question my manhood, I deserve it.

I have to pick my wife up from the airport now. Man Town is officially closed.

Godspeed.

A New Beginning

Hi everyone, Mike from Methuen here. I decided to start this blog for several reasons. First of all, to further connect with all my fans who have supported my antics at local sporting events in the Greater Boston area. Second, to all the dedicated WEEI listeners who have enjoyed my frequent calls and whines over the years. Third, and most importantly, I'd like to thank God for blessing me with the good fortune of having such a good looking and athletically gifted family. Without that, I don't think this whole sports antics thing would make much sense at all.

Oh yeah, I forgot the MAIN reason I started this blog. I have recently become very frustrated with WEEI's decision to stop taking my calls. Because of this, I have decided to start a blog. I figured I can build on the ever-growing popularity of the "Mike from Methuen" name.

Once I gain enough support, we'll launch our own radio station. The way I see it, we can begin every day with a killer morning radio show that actually talks about sports, not politics. Now, just stop and think about that for a minute. A sports radio station that actually talks about sports. Now that's a concept, isn't it?

Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself here. First, we need to establish a strong grassroots movement. For now, I'll do my best to entertain you guys. There will be plenty of insightful commentary regarding the local and national sports scene. And of course, I promise to offer plenty of playful commentary on the dysfunctional radio station: WEEI.

Until next time friends.

Go Kansas.
